Frequently Asked Questions

When do the competitions take place?

Competitions will be happening on both Saturday and Sunday. The finalized schedule will be available on the "Schedule" page closer to the event.

Do I have to purchase a full weekend pass if I only want to do the competitions?

Yes. The only way to participate in the competitions is to purchase a full weekend pass. Passes can be purchased online (with some early-bird pricing available), or at the door for $215.

Is there an option to pay for only one day of competitions?

There are no “à la carte” options – if you want to compete, you need a full weekend pass.

What is a spectator pass, and who can buy one?

These are intended for non-dancing friends and family who want to come watch you compete. They are $10 at the door.

If I want to come hang out, watch, and social dance, can I buy a spectator pass?

The spectator passes are intended for non-dancers. If you are a dancer and you are planning to participate in the daytime social dancing, we ask that you support the event by purchasing a weekend pass.

Can I purchase tickets to the dance nights without buying a weekend pass?

Yes. Tickets to the dance night will be available to purchase individually on our website ($30). You can also buy them at the door for $35.

You can also get a Dance Pass ($60) which includes the evening dances on Friday and Saturday and the Sunday afternoon social! Check the Registration page for details.

I bought a pass but I can’t come anymore – can I get a refund?

Passes are non-refundable, but can be transferred to someone else. In special circumstances they can be deferred to next year’s event.

Online registration is closed – can I still sign up for competitions?

You will still be able to register for some competitions on Friday night at the venue. Make sure to bring cash!

How can I volunteer for this awesome event?

Glad you asked! If you're interested in volunteering, please send an email to Paul at otownshowdownvolunteers@gmail.com. Tell him your name, contact info (phone and email), when you are available over the weekend, and any skills you have that might be useful (e.g., good with money, love chatting with strangers, have a driver's license, have smart serve, etc.) OTS volunteers get a free weekend pass, and whatever other perks we can throw their way!

Where can I park near the competition venue?

Street parking is available in the neighborhood but can be a bit tricky – a map outlining your options will be included in your registration package. And there is always paid parking available at nearby Lansdowne Park as well, with over 1000 spots in the facility. Do make sure to give yourself a little extra time in the morning to find a spot!

Will there be food available at the venue?

We will have some “pay what you can” snack options, but if you are looking for something more substantial, there are lots of great restaurants and other places to grab food on Bank St. (just a couple of blocks away from the venue!). There will be some suggestions listed in the event programme.
